Wednesday - Still windy, the bigger swell still around, you could sail way
out and catch a set all the way back in. I think I was on 4.7m to start,
but spent most of the day on 5.0m and Evo 80 and/or Evil Twin 70. Also had
a spell on the 99 RRD Twin. Sailed 5-6 hours non stop, with gloves because
my hands were destroyed. MAny many good rides down the long side of the
reef. Skyeboy had the head cam so stoked to share a few waves with him
filming and then to stick a smooth table top out the back as the sun went
down. Towards the end was sailing quite a bit downwind of the main peak,
but catching the wide swells that seemed to light up the offshore beach a
bit better. On the EVo80, saw a rogue swell a bit wider off the headland
so swooped along the swell line to the peak and this thing walled up the
full length of the Moulay point. Waist high and steep but always with the
door open for the next section. Kicked out smoothly in the next bay in
front of the big house. The longest wave of the day and of the week.
Turned out to be the final wave of the final day. Unbelievable. Sailed
straight back out to try and claw back upwind, fully planing a long way out
and then the wind just switched off. Luckily I had enough distance by then
and plenty of volume so just slowly sailed a mile back in to the upwind
side of the reef enjoying the sunset and the last looks att he place from
the sea. Perfect final wave. Great day.
